alt="" />The Bangkok Call took place on September 9th, after a lot of planning and prayer. We were so proud of several of our kids as they joined in fasting and prayer for the big event. We had been praying for 10,000 youth to come and the most turned out to be 1,500, so we were a bit disappointed about the numbers. The committee planned in faith, so the arena was huge and we did not fill it! But it was still better to aim high and not yet hit the mark than to aim low and get it. We hope this will be the first of many. The most talented worship bands were there and it was all very professionally done, so we felt very proud of the opportunity that was given to the thais that did not yet know Christ. They spent the whole first day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in prayer and worship and the second day was especially for nonbelievers with a Gospel message and testimonies from well-knowns. On that day there was around 30-40 responses for Christ. Our youth had a great time and was very encouraged. Looking back, we could see several other things that were competing for the kids' attention, so they will be taken more in to consideration next year. We have to believe that things happened in the spiritual realm that we don't know of yet.
It sure seemed like a lot of spiritual warfare went on surrounding the event! Sam woke up that day with infected eczema on her hands. The staph infection she got from Southern a couple weeks earlier resurfaced and Sam was so sick she had to call Steve to come home from The Call to take her to the hospital. She's doing a lot better now; please keep praying for her hands and this eczema.
This is Michael, writing on sort of my experience with the Bangkok Call. On September 9th, the youth group all met at around 7:30 at the Church building to go to the Bangkok Call. We left there around 8:00 and got there a little after 9, which is when it was supposed to start. The auditorium that they were staging it in was HUGE, it probably could hold about 7,000 people. We had been praying and fasting for two weeks before the call that God would bring 10,000 youth there. In the morning when it first started, there wasn't more than 200 people to start with, though later on in the day more people kept on coming, and quite a few people came during the evening. Altogether, though, during the whole day with people going in and out, there was only about 2,000 people there. It was kind of disappointing, but God's plan is bigger than our plan, and maybe it just wasn't his plan for 10,000 people to come. Anyway, it started out with a certain band from a Church in Bangkok playing for about an hour and worshipping God, and then there was a short sermon, and then another band came and worshipped for an hour, and it just kept on going, and going, and going, for 12 hours! We had an awesome time singing and worshipping God. Every hour or 2 we would go out and have a break for about 10 minutes and then go right back in! The next day our feet hurt from jumping up and down so much! I believe that God blessed the Bangkok Call even if it didn't seem like that many people showed up, and I believe that He will bless all the future Revolutions for His Kingdom.
