Thonburi Team in Bangkok

Dear Friends,

We recently took our youth group from Siam Church to a prayer and worship night for the nation of Thailand. Our good friend Sidney, from Chiang Mai, who is a Thai evangelist and a key figure in mobilizing churches to press into God for spiritual breakthrough in their cities, was preaching on the Keys to Revival. It was a powerful night with 700 youth crying out to God to change Thailand. The worship team had prepared their hearts to lead us in worship by fasting for 10 days before the evening. Sidney had selected around ten Thai young people to lead prayers of intercession for God to move in the hearts of Thai youth for reptance and renewal. The Spirit moved mightily as the youth in a concert of prayer called out to God for their land. Sidney's message was simple: there are no formulas. If we want to see revival we have to ask this question: "How hungry am I for God?" He shared testimonies of what God was doing in the Hill tribes in the mountains of northern Thailand. God is moving through these tribal people to the point were whole villages are coming to Christ and being transformed.

Sidney invited the youth to throw off sin and run after God. He spoke very straight and told the youth to leave sexual immorality, drugs, pornography and masturbation. I looked around the auditorium and the youth were listening intently, totally focused on the message. In 15 years of missions in Thailand I have never see Thai youth so ready to listen and receive.

The next morning at the breakfast table I noticed something written on Kanaan's arm. I said, " Hey, Kanaan, what's that on your arm?" Kanaan in his usual laid back 11 year old style said, "Oh, they're the Keys to Revival that I wrote down last night during Sidney's talk. I wrote them on my arm so that I would not forget them. So here they are!

Keys to Revival!

Fasting

Praying

Humbling yourself before the Lord.

I was really encouraged that Kanaan and our youth group were so impacted by the evening. In the days that followed, four of them on their own initiative fasted and prayed for the nation. Praise God for their response! I petition you to pray for these youth that they would continue to run in the paths of God.

Suwit & Ying's New Shoes

It has been a tremendous blessing to see our Thai leaders Suwit and Ying at Siam church step up to the plate since we made our announcement four weeks ago of our move. Already this past year they have been leading the Thai adult cell group on Sunday mornings.

When we spoke to Suwit and Ying last month about our prayer retreat and our decision to leave in six months they were saddened but as we talked through it, they affirmed our decision by saying that the Lord had been speaking to them the very same things: we would be leaving and that it was time for them to step up to the plate. And they have! On the afternoon of the intercession & worship night for the youth we picked up Suwit and Ying at their house to go with us and the youth group. Russ stayed home with their children so that they both could go. They were excited as teenagers and both of them were "sporting" new leather shoes to fit in with the youth. It was a hoot! The next five hours were awesome as they bonded with the youth and fully participated in the evening as Sidney shared on revival. Since that evening Suwit has been attending our youth outreaches on Wednesdays and Sundays. We just returned from a weekend mission trip to Brajeen in which Suwit and Ying took their whole family (five children). Next month our team is sending Suwit and Ying to Singapore for a four day mission conference. Ying has never been on a plane before and is really excited. We want them to connect with the other Thai leaders that are going. There are over 20 Thai pastors and leaders from Bangkok going.

Weekend in Brajeen

This past weekend saw us on the road in a three van caravan with almost 20 from Siam church going up to Brajeen province to encourage former Forerunner Ministry students Num and Elle who trained with us for three years. Num is working in a computer parts factory and Elle is a housewife. They have a heart for children and have been taking a group of village boys and girls to church every Sunday. We had a great weekend connecting with Num and Elle again and reaching out to those 15 children. Our Thai youth group led games, worship and Bible stories for the children. Russ' band, Up2U put on a concert on Sunday afternoon that was enjoyed by all. Suwit and Ying did a beautiful job encouraging Num & Elle and connecting with all the children there.

It's been a great month of ministry. We again are reminded of your partnership in the gospel message as you support us through your intercession, finances and encouragement. We ask you to pray like the mighty man of faith, the apostle Paul, who said,

"Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."

Ephesians 6:18
